Both the painting and the painter must go through phases together to change into something new.

As true to the reference or as imaginative as you want.
Custom work can be as straightforward or as creative as you want it to be. I can paint closely from a favorite photo, combine several references into one piece, or build an entirely new scene around the people, animals, places, or ideas you bring me. And the reference does not have to be perfect. I can often work from old, blurry, cropped, or less-than-ideal photos and still build a strong painting from them. From a true-to-life portrait to pets dressed in character and placed into a completely imagined setting, I use color, texture, and expressive detail to shape the final piece around the subject and the idea behind it.
I want the subject to remain familiar, while the painting carries the color and texture of something made by hand.
From your first idea to the finished painting.
Start by telling me what you have in mind and sending whatever references you have. They do not need to be perfect. I’ll look everything over, talk through what is possible, and help figure out the size, composition, and direction that make the most sense for the piece.
1 · Share your idea
Tell me who or what you would like painted, along with anything you want me to know about the subject, personality, memory, place, or idea behind it. Send the photos you have, even if they are old, blurry, cropped, or taken from different angles.
2 · Figure out the direction
You may already know exactly what you want, or we can work that out together. We can stay close to a favorite reference, combine several photos, or get much more imaginative with the setting, composition, and overall idea.
3 · Go over the details
I’ll reply with my recommendations, availability, pricing, estimated timing, and anything else I may need before we get started.
